Ferry to Cozumel: Routes, Schedules, and Tickets 2025 update
The passenger ferry from Playa del Carmen serves as the primary gateway between Cozumel and the mainland of the Yucatan Peninsula, connecting popular destinations like Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Every day, thousands of tourists and locals embark on the 45-minute journey to or from Cozumel. With departures running nearly every hour, the ferry offers a convenient and hassle-free way to travel.
This seamless connection makes day trips to and from Cozumel incredibly easy, particularly for cruise ship passengers eager to explore mainland attractions such as the Mayan Ruins, Xcaret, or Xel Ha. Whether you’re visiting for adventure or relaxation, the ferry ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Currently, three companies provide ferry services to Cozumel: Ultramar, Winjet, and the newest addition, Xcaret Xailing, which boasts record travel times of just 30 minutes!
The ride takes about 45 minutes each way. Ferries run 365 days a year, weather permitting.
IMPORTANT Prices and Schedules may Change Without Notice. Check with the ferry company (see below) to make sure. Schedules above are current as of January, 2025. Currently half of the times are done by one company, and the other half done by the other company, switched on odd vs. even days. That is too confusing, so we just merged the two until high season returns.
